Learn about the plight of pelicans in Southern California during this fascinating and timely visit to the International Bird Rescue Research Center in San Pedro. Weeks before the BP Deepwater Horizon well began to spew millions of gallons of crude into the gulf, Roger followed the exploits of the staff and volunteers at this local institution as they rescued a number of Brown Pelicans from San Pedro Harbor. Be with Roger on an actual rescue mission, visit the bird cleaning facilities and learn of some of the same cleaning procedures that are now being used in the gulf to help rehabilitate the brown pelicans that have been affected by the oil spill.
